A short distance from Rigney's is the Foynes Flying Boat Museum , dedicated to recalling that historic time from 1939 to 1945, when Foynes, Ireland, became the centre of the aviation world. On July 9th 1939, Pan Am's luxury Flying Boat, the "Yankee Clipper" landed at Foynes. This was the first commercial passenger flight on a direct route from the USA to Europe. During the late 1930s and early 1940s, this quiet little town on the Shannon became the focal point for air traffic on the North Atlantic.

South and west of the town of Killarney in Co. Kerry is an expanse of rugged mountainous country. This includes the McGillycuddy's Reeks, the highest mountain range in Ireland which rise to a height of over 1000 metres. At the foot of these mountains nestle the world famous lakes of Killarney. Here where the mountains sweep down to the lake shores, their lower slopes covered in woodlands, lies the 10,236 hectare (26,000 acres), Killarney National Park . The distinctive combination of mountains, lakes, woods and waterfalls under ever changing skies gives the area a special scenic beauty.

Special OffersThe Adare Golf Club is an 18 hole championship golf course which opened in 1995 and is set on the 840 acre estate of Adare Manor Hotel & Golf Resort in Co. Limerick, Ireland. This was the last major golf course designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones, Senior. Host to the Irish Open Championship, this majestic design has gained international acclaim as one of his finest creations.
Newcastle West Golf Club. This Arthur Spring designed Course is set in 160 Acres of unspoilt countryside. It has been built to the highest standards on sandy free-draining soil. An extensive practice area, driving range and putting green are also available. The spacious area makes each hole a separate entity. Hazards include lakes, bunkers, streams and trees.
Limerick Golf Club is located at Ballyclough, on the southern outskirts of Limerick City, and is one of the oldest golf clubs in Ireland, founded in 1891, the same year as the Golfing Union of Ireland. This mature woodlands course offers challenges at different levels and has been played by many of the greats of golf.

Limerick County Golf Club is an 18 Hole Championship Standard Golf Course(5,876 metres off the back tee) with 18 sand-based greens and tees all built to US PGA standards.
Ennis Golf Club, founded in 1907, is situated in County Clare, in the heart of Irelands scenic Mid-West, some 30 km from Clare's idyllic coastline and the famous 200m high Cliffs of Moher, and the limestone landscapes of the Burren.

The Southwest of Ireland is particularly blessed with an abundance of wonderful courses and the natural Lakeside courses at Killarney Golf and Fishing Club are widely considered the jewels of the region and very deserving of their title - "The Nearest Golf Club to Heaven!"
